Jimmy’s Work Trip to Tokyo

Sun. 9/11/05

These photos were all taken from the office (Aozora Bank Fuchu location) in the cafeteria on the 7th floor. They look west from Fuchu towards the mountains.

This is the actual entrance to the temple which lies at the end of the shopping arcade (The Kaminarimon Gate is at one end, then the shopping arcade, then this entrance.) The actual temple lies behind this entrance but it was raining and there was no cover from the rain behind the entrance. Plus a large crowd so I didn't actually make it to the temple. Maybe on another visit. (right)

The arcade consisted mostly of trinkets for sale but an occasional nice shop. This one featured fans of all sorts (as did several others). (left)

The "Thunder Gate". The entrance to the Senso-ji temple housing a golden statue that dates to 628 AD. Behind the gate is a large shopping arcade that leads to the temple. Most of these pictures are from the shopping arcade. (right)

More fans for sale.  (left)

OK, I have no idea what this is but it sits atop a four or five story building. A carrot? a golden potato? Who knows?

A large selection (and poor picture) of Samurai Swords for sale in the arcade.

The shops disappear in the distance with the temple at the far end. My guess is that is was about 1/3 mile long. (right)

This shop had many toy cats and beautiful japanese dolls.

Jimmy I miss you and love you - can’t wait for you to return home soon.
The animals won’t stop asking when you’ll be home -
- we’re all looking forward to and waiting here for your return!!! XOXO, H.
